Graveminder by Melissa Marr

Rating: 3 stars

Ugh I really wanted to like this book because I loved Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series but I really didn't like this book. Maybe it's just me but the characters weren't likable and the whole idea of the story was just weird.

We are introduced to Rebekkah who comes from a family of Graveminders. A Graveminder is supposed to keep the dead from coming back as zombies. But of course something goes wrong and in their small town of Claysville people start getting attacked by zombies. So it is Rebekkah's job to get them back to 'Death' who just conveniently lives under the funeral home.

All in all I was really disappointed in this book but I guess if you are interested in zombies then this is probably right up your alley.

All I have to say is I loved this book! And the first thing I thought about when I finished it is when the second one comes out. When I started reading this book I thought it would be a typical young adult paranormal book about angels but Cynthia Hand gave it a different spin which was very refreshing.

The reader is introduced to Clara who is part angel and her whole goal in life is to achieve her purpose. But of course its not that easy because Clara doesn't know what her purpose is and the only clues she gets is the visions she gets at random. But she follows her visions to the middle of no where, where she meets Christian who is the boy in her visions but things are complicated when she is drawn to another boy, Tucker. This book has the reader turning pages as fast as they can trying to figure out whats going to happen. I really don't like cliff hangers but this book was a great one because it makes the reader want to read the second one. All I have to say is I can't wait till the second one!!!

Seers by Heather Frost

Published October 2011
330 pages
Source: from Cedar Fort on NetGalley

Rating: 4 stars

First off I want to thank the author Heather Frost and the publisher Cedar Fort for letting me read this book before it was released.

It seems since the Twilight series came out vampires, angels, werewolf/shape shifters, ghosts and a few other super natural creatures has been the main focus of young adult books. So when I read the description of Seers I was intrigued by Seers and Guardians. I wasn't disappointed, this book was a quick enjoyable read.

We meet Kate who has recently lost her parents but with this near death experience she has gained the powers of seeing people's emotional auroras. The book starts off with the reader following Kate's daily routines and meeting her friend Lee and her boyfriend Aaron. Then we are introduced to the new kid Patrick who Kate is immediately attracted to. But Patrick has a secret that involves Kate and once Kate knows this secret it changes her life.

Ruined by Paula Morris

Published August 2009

Rating: 4 stars

First off I want to say that I really enjoyed this book. Secondly it wasn't what I thought it would be because since I got it from the library there is a sticker on the book saying that it is a horror book. Well just to be clear it is not a scary book at all. Yes it involves a ghost and yes it is suspenseful at times but I would not consider it a horror book.

In this book we are introduced to Rebecca Brown who is from New York but gets sent to live with her "aunt" in New Orleans. While in New Orleans she has to deal with her excentric aunt and her snooty schoolmates. The only people who seem remotely nice to her are her cousin and Lisette who is a ghost. As the story goes on we learn Lisette's story and why Rebecca is one of the only people who can see her.

This book made me want to read more of Paula Morris's books because I love the detail she puts into describing the scenes around her characters. It doesn't take much for the reader to imagine standing on the side walk looking at these old houses with the descriptions Morris gives us.

All and all an enjoyable book Morris finishes the book with no loose ends which is always a good thing

My First Post

So I finally decided to make a blog just for the books I read. I use www.goodreads.com as well but having this blog will help me remember what each book I read is about. I read just about any kind of book but at the moment I am really into paranormal books. I will hopefully add my first book review tomorrow.
